Alfons Maria Mucha, known as Alfons Mucha, came from a large middle-class family. He was attracted to drawing as a child. He was recruited by Count Karl Khuen Belasi, who was so impressed by his work that he became his patron and financed his studies. He worked in advertising and for the theatre. In 1894, he had the opportunity to work for Sarah Bernhardt. This brought him notoriety. He was then in great demand and received numerous commissions. In 1900, he took part in the Universal Exhibition. He died of pneumonia a few days after being interrogated by the Gestapo.

Death : 14 July 1939 (at the age of 79) in Prague, Czech Republic.
